This species of ocora (Guarea aguilarii) grows up to 30 m high, and is a rare species endemic to Costa Rica, where it is known only from the Osa Peninsula and Tarrazú. The flowers are whitish, pollinated by insects, the fruits are large, spherical, flattened, reddish, and when sufficiently ripe, they open and expose their seeds, which have a reddish fleshy covering that attracts and is eaten by animals.

Esta especie de ocora (Guarea aguilarii) llega a medir hasta 30 m de altura, es una especie poco abundante endémica de Costa Rica, donde se conoce solo de la Península de Osa y Tarrazú. Las flores son blancuzcas, polinizadas por insectos, los frutos son grandes, esféricos, achatados, rojizos, cuando están lo suficientemente maduros, se abren y exponen sus semillas, las cuales tienen una cobertura carnosa rojiza que atrae y es consumida por los animales.
