This species of aguacatillo can grow up to 40 m high, all its structures have a strong smell similar to that of the avocado. It is known from Costa Rica to Argentina. The flowers are very small, yellowish, pollinated by insects, the fruits have a reddish structure called a dome, which is seen by the fauna that consumes them and disperses their seeds.

Las flores son muy pequeñas, amarillentas, polinizadas por insectos, los frutos tienen una estructura rojiza llamada cúpula y la cual es vistosa para la fauna que los consume y dispersa sus semillas.
