This species is part of the guanabana family found in humid forest ecosystems. It grows up to 10 meters, so it is common to find it in the understory. It is characterized by having greenish-white, aromatic, pedulumn shaped flowers and globose red-orange fruits when ripe. It grows between 0 to 540 meters above sea level and is endemic to Costa Rica, growing exclusively in the Central Valley and country’s the central and southern Pacific regions. The tree is common at the Osa Conservation Biological Station.
Este árbol pertenece a la familia de la guanábana (Annonaceae). Se encuentra en el ecosistema de bosque húmedo, alcanza hasta 10 metros de altura y crece en el sotobosque. Se caracteriza por tener flores color blanco verduzco, aromáticas y péndulas; los frutos son esféricos, de color rojo-naranja cuando están maduros. Se distribuye en elevaciones de 0 a 540 metros de elevación, exclusivamente en el Pacífico sur de Costa Rica. En la Estación Biológica Piro es relativamente común.
