Rubber
This tree, locally known as “rubber” gets its name from the white latex it produces which resembles the true rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). It can grow up to 40 meters tall and the latex can be used to create a type of rubber, but not of the same quality as real rubber. It can be found from Belize to Colombia, but in Costa Rica it is only found in the southern Pacific region.
Historia de la planta
Este árbol es llamado hule por su látex blanco muy parecido al del árbol verdadero de hule (Hevea brasiliensis), este látex es utilizable, sin embargo no de la misma calidad como el verdadero. Es un árbol de hasta 40 metros de altura, los frutos son anaranjados, se dan en ramitas gruesas y se dan en arreglos particulares. Se puede encontrar desde Belice a Colombia, en Costa Rica solo se encuentra en el pacífico sur.
