Plant Story

This species can grow up to 40 meters tall and is similar in appearance to the breadnut tree (Brosimum alicastrum), however it has smooth leaves with red colored petiole, or leaf stems. The spherical fruits are medium sized and green. The wood has been used in the construction of houses. This species grows well between Mexico and Brazil, and in Costa Rica it grows only along the Pacific slope.

Esta especie crece hasta 40 metros de alto, es parecido al ojoche (Brosimum alicastrum), pero este tiene peciolos rojizos y las láminas son lisas. Los frutos son medianos, esféricos, verdes. Su madera ha sido utilizada para la construcción de viviendas. Esta especie se da desde México hasta Brasil y en Costa Rica se conoce solo en la vertiente pacífica.
