This tree is a member of the guanabana family and is found in humid forest ecosystems. The tree reaches between 10 to 20 meters and is characterized by its pleasant aroma and smooth bark. Its flowers are white and its fruits are globose and black-brown when ripe. It is distributed from Belize to Peru; in Costa Rica it is found on both the Atlantic and Pacific slopes and in the northern region, growing between 0 to 600 meters above sea level.
Unonopsis pittieri es un árbol de la familia de la guanábana (Annonaceae) que se encuentra en el ecosistema de bosque húmedo, llega desde los 10 a los 20 m de altura y se caracteriza por su agradable aroma y corteza lisa con estrías oscuras. Sus flores son color blanco y sus frutos son esféricos son color pardo negruzco al madurar. Se distribuye de Belice a Perú; en Costa Rica se encuentra en ambas vertientes, entre 0 y 600 metros de elevación.
